The Initiative to Develop Education through Astronomy and Space Science (IDEAS) Grant Program provides funding for an educator to partner with a scientist to pursue an effective educational project. Call for proposals will be available by mid-July 2005. The deadline for submitting a 2005 IDEAS proposal is Friday, October 21, 2005.

For the first time, NASA is recruiting individuals with specific experience and expertise in K-12 education. NASA is looking for the Educator Astronauts to help lead the Agency in the development of new ways to connect space exploration with the classroom, and to inspire the next generation of explorers.

Explorer Institute   NASA Explorer Institutes
NASA's Informal Education Division has initiated a new national level program called the NASA Explorer Institutes (NEI). NEI will provide, "...as only NASA can," engaging experiences, opportunities, materials, and information to members of the informal education community including, but not limited to, representatives of science centers, museums, planetariums, libraries, parks, aquaria, nature centers, botanical gardens, youth groups, and community-based organizations.
